Dawnin On Me
Walking down the sidewalk counting the squares
They go by in two
Gazing down the sleepy street
Light flash off the sky turns blue
The birds waiting for breakfast on the telephone wire
Alligator shoes couldn't get me much higher
'cause I think it's just starting to dawn on me
Dawning on me, dawning on me
Love's like a raincoat
Gets all wet while it keeps you dry
Some stay in the sun too long
No hello means no goodbye
The birds fly from the wire down to the lawn
Some worms stay for breakfast
While others keep worming along
And I think it's just
Starting to dawn on me
Dawning on me, dawning on me
In the school yard the kids start to play
And the moon is slipping away
While that traffic light that's been flashing red in my dream
Is turning back to a circle of red yellow green
And it's starting to dawn on me
I can barely hear the whistle of a train
Rolling across the land
So I'm whistling back
Sound stretching like a rubber band
The birds are full they're teaching those worms how to fly
And my heart's like that train that will whistle on by
When it dawns on you
That you're dawning on me
The sun's Gonna rise again, it's Gonna set back down again
Like them birds I intend on flying away
