"Anger, passion, love and hate all sit together and take turns making
their case along side fear, frustration and smiley faces."
Music Voice Magazine -
Review of Junkman's Journey Oct. 1996. Junkman's Journey was recorded in 1995. It was intended as a demo tape (work tape) to showcase new songs to other musicians with the idea that these musicians would later perform on the "real project". The "real project" never took place. The musicians I was working with liked the tape and some even thought it to be the best work I had done. Using a Soundteck P.A. system, and recording direct to a home cassette player, I had all the artistic control and time I needed. This recording is as close to what I have done for years in a live situation (imperfections and all) as one could possibly hope for. When I had recorded about fifteen new songs (and they were all new - some I had to read while recording). I took what I felt were the most emotional of the bunch and had Allen Moore master them. He did a great job cleaning up what was a home spun sound. This is the only home recording I have ever put out in packaged form. It's probably the only home recording I have made. Part of me had to get these songs out and onto tape, as I recall, because I really didn't want to loose them and I don't chart out music too well. In any event, there were quite a few emotional questions lingering about my life in 1994 and 1995 and this was a way of making them work for me. It's not a technical breakthrough but if you like guitar and vocal, no overdubs, and all the reality (including some tuning) of the songwriting process then you should like Junkman's Journey. Some of Junkman's Journey might make it to the production chamber at some point somewhere but this is how it begins.
